Sound of the 60s
When we came up with this song, that's when I quit my day job. I literally couldn't do or think of anything until this song was finished. I knew we really had something this time. Burt Bacharach by computer is no weirder than Burt Bacharach collaborating with Elvis Costello.
I think this song was the first really good one. When I played the rough cut of it for my manager at the studio, he said only, "That is SO tits!"

In My Dreams
In my dreams I could never be lost or alone
Every night I’d be safe in a world of my own.
But my life took its toll on my mind
And my dreams Are no longer so peaceful and kind.
I remember at night
The love that could never be right
And dreams have turned into a world of regret
I cry in my sleep and I try to forget
I don’t want to be sleeping
I can’t sleep without weeping
In My Dreams, In My Dreams, In My Dreams.
“You’re a dreamer,”you said
And you gave me a smile
Something made me say“yes,”
Made me stay for a while
All the pain that I felt deep inside
When you came, Something reached out and brushed it aside
I can almost believe
That dreams can be healed and relieved
Dreams never used to be things I could share
But tonight Wwhen I sleep in your arms you’ll be there
In the scariest part of the world in my heart
In My Dreams, In My Dreams, In My Dreams. |
